At Lo Lo Mai Springs They Have The Amenities

While the cool temperatures and natural beauty maybe what attracted you to Lo Lo Mai Springs to be a resort there are more things that are needed and they are the amenities.

Would you expect them to have a masseur that will give you your massage in a hammock by a tranquil pool? Well they do. The list of what makes this beautiful resort special includes a pool, spa playground, showers. laundry, store, library and a great supply of firewood.

3 outstanding bathroom/shower facilities (open 24 hours, free, clean and with hot water).
• Swimming, wading and fishing in Oak Creek
• Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi (open seasonally 10-8:00)
• Laundry facilities
• Children’s Playground
• Sports Court
• Shuffleboard Court
• Horseshoe Pits
• Convenience Store
• Clubhouse
• Swings
• Free DVD Library
Wi-Fi is free, and available throughout most of the resort.  If you would like a site with internet access, please let us know upon arrival and we will do our best to provide a “wifi site” if one is available.  Additionally, we have a guest computer in the clubhouse that is available from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

There is no cable TV at the sites, and the beautiful trees block satellite signal at most sites.  They do have hundreds of DVDs and even VHS tapes that can be borrowed for free however.

Large RV’s are welcome at Lo Lo Mai (Up to a 40’ maximum) but they want to communicate that ours is a tree covered resort and that tall and long units will likely have branches brushing along them.  If you are traveling in a large RV and not an expert parker or concerned about branches brushing your RV, Lo Lo Mai is probably not the right park for you.

The Lo Lo Mai Springs flow year-round at approximately 365 gallons per minute.  The spring pond area is closed for fishing and swimming.  Pets are not allowed in this area.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The 3/4 mile frontage on Oak Creek provides many spots for wading, hiking, fishing, etc.  No lifeguards can be provided along such a long stretch of creek, so it is the responsibility of the parents to see that young children are not allowed in the creek without adult supervision.  Glass containers of any kind are not allowed along the creek.

Find Peace At Lo Lo Mai Springs

When you get away for a few days what is it you are looking for? Would it fair to say that Peace and tranquility might be on that list? In the summer getting away from the heat here in the Phoenix Metro area would be on your list as well. Lo Lo Mai Springs is just such a place.

They have small log camping cabins that are approximately 120 square feet plus a small loft sleeping area.  They accommodate up to 4 people, maximum 2 adults.  The small cabins have a toilet, but no shower.  Individual tiled showers are located at the nearby shower facility.  There is a kitchenette with a 2 burner stove top, small refrigerator and sink.  The small cabins come stocked with pots, pans, utensils, dishes and silverware.  A built-in bench seat can open out into a bed (about the size of a long double, best made up with unfitted queen sheets).  The sleeping loft sleeps 2. Guests supply their own bedding and towels.  All of their small cabins have a heater and air conditioner.

The wooded areas that surround the resort are complemented by the calmness of the Oak Creek running alongside the sites. Lo Lo Mai is a Family campground.  During the week the campground is a calm oasis.  On weekends during the summer however, the park really comes alive.  Kids are cruising around on bikes, exploring the creek, swimming in the pool, playing basketball…  They love it and wouldn’t have it any other way, but they know that some folks are looking for a more adult-oriented park.

Respect of the property and the other campers is an absolute necessity at Lo Lo Mai.  Loud music, destructive behavior, drunkenness, etc… don’t belong here. They ask that people Drive on the park as little as possible; only to and from the property unless health reasons require transport within the park.  Because of the kids at play and the dust that is kicked up by vehicles, the 5mph speed limit is firm and absolute.
While quiet, well behaved Dogs are welcomed at Lo Lo Mai, they ask that common sense be used when traveling with your pet.  Please clean up after them and keep them with you and on leash while at the park.

Culinary Travel: Ground Turkey Pasta At Lo Lo Mai Springs

We stayed in the 600 square foot 2 bedroom cabin that is called Sycamore. It has a full kitchen that was perfect and well stocked with pots, pans and utensils.  Rhonda O’Hara made a great dish that was quick and easy as well as very tasty and filling. The recipe follows.

Ingredients

1 package of your choice of pasta
2 pounds lean ground turkey
¼ teaspoon salt
2 jars of Newman's Own Alfredo pasta sauce
1 cup Cottage Cheese
¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese  (or add more to taste)

Directions

In 2-quart saucepan, cook and drain pasta as directed on package

Meanwhile, in 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook turkey and salt over medium-high heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until turkey is no longer pink; drain.

Cook uncovered over medium heat 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until well browned. Stir in pasta sauce and cottage cheese. Cook 1 more minute, stirring occasionally, until thoroughly heated. Stir in pasta.

Sprinkle with cheese; reduce heat to low. Cover; until cheese is melted. Serve

Gather around the table on the back patio, enjoy your food, beverage and light a fire in the firepit and enjoy your very cool evening

Think Summer Travel

Would you rather lie on the beach all day or see as many sights as you can? It's best to identify the type of vacation you and your travel companions want up front. Here are three types of vacations to consider. It's an important summer travel tip, pick the place best suited for you.

Beach Destinations:
Resorts are bending over backwards to attract tourists to their beaches, so this year you can soak up the sun in any number of places. The Caribbean, Mexico, San Diego, and Hawaii all have outstanding savings and package deals.

Big City Vacations:
Take a bite out of the Big Apple with some amazing New York City sales, or let loose in Las Vegas. This is also true across the pond. Europe is a dream destination, and with multiple four-season cities like Paris and Madrid, you can have a great trip any time of year.

Outdoor Adventures:
Some people think this is for adrenaline junkies alone, but thrill seeking doesn’t always require a big physical commitment or giving up luxury. Try Costa Rica and explore the beautiful cloud rain forest canopies, all while enjoying great accommodations.’

Culinary Vacations:
Explore culture through cuisine on our exotic culinary tours and cooking vacations. With our knowledgeable local guides, world-class chefs, and carefully designed itineraries, we’ve created cooking and culinary vacations that offer unparalleled insider access to the local culture.

So whether you are a foodie looking for the best meals, a culture buff who savors serendipitous experiences, or a cooking enthusiast who wants to learn to prepare local foods, Access Trips culinary tours are for you.

Educational Trips:
Adding a learning component to your family vacation is a bit like having your cake and eating it, too -- you enjoy all the regular resort fun, plus you enrich your experience. The many and diverse options for additional learning at these resorts makes it easy to fit at least one fun learning activity into your trip schedule. Among the possibilities are hour-long Native American storytelling sessions, 90-minute tours of a former top-secret bunker, three-hour cooking classes or day-long excursions to a little-visited Mayan ruin. By adding a learning component to your family trip, you and your kids will come back with much more than a tan; you'll gain new insights and possibly new interests.
