The Date of Infamy that launched an epic conflict with Japan took place here in the early morning hours of December 7, 1941. The tranquil waters of Pearl Harbor were forever disrupted by the tides of war. The USS Arizona and 1,177 of her crew were among the first casualties of the Pacific War; the USS Arizona Memorial stands above the sunken vessel and her fallen sailors, serving as a reminder of their sacrifice and commitment.
A must visit for every American at least once in their lives. Within the grounds of Pearl Harbor are a number of exhibits, displays, memorials, and museums, honoring not only the 1,177 victims of the Japanese attacks, but all of those who bravely served in World War II. The USS Missouri Battleship and the Pacific Aviation Museum are located on Ford Island, and offer unique insites into the war. The USS Bowfin Submarine takes visitors through narrow corridors that often were submerged for months at a time.
Pearl Harbor Oahu Tours are combined with many of the top sites around the island of Oahu, including the world famous North Shore, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and a driving tour through downtown Honolulu's historic district. Inter-island tours from the Big Island, Maui, and Kauai allow visitors to Oahu's neighbor islands to experience Pearl Harbor's Museums -- including the USS Arizona Memorial, USS Bowfin Submarine, USS Missouri Battleship, and the Pacific Aviation Museum -- while enjoying an island hopping trip to the most visited island in Hawaii.
