Off the Beaten Path - Indianapolis, Indiana

It is summer time and you are on a family vacation with the kids. After a fun but rather exhausting trip to the Children's museum of Indianapolis you've probably scarfed down one of Indiana's rather delicious pork tenderloin sandwiches. But now what? How about a refreshing glass of milk to wash down your sandwich and cool off.

Traders Point Creamery

Take your littles to an organic dairy farm.  This Dairy is an award-winning artisan Creamery and has a farm-to-table restaurant in the historical rural Traders Point area, just 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis. What an experience for the younger crowd to see a working dairy.

If you are not too full from pork loin sandwiches, dine at The Loft Restaurant. The Loft is a farm-to-table restaurant with a strong organic emphasis.

Their rotating menu reflects our dedication to raising and serving food in harmony with the land. Featured dishes rotate with seasonal changes to bring diversity and a unique sense of place to the menus created by our Chef. The seasonal menus can be paired with our selection of organic and sustainable wines and beers.

They follow your food from the pasture to the plate to ensure that you can trust its sources. They believe that the finest dishes begin with fresh ingredients and their garden-fresh produce, artisan cheeses, organic dairy products, grass fed beef, and pastured pork, travel only a short distance from the land to the kitchen. The rotating menu reflects the dedication they have to raising and serving food in harmony with the land. If you're not interested in a full meal, then you should grab a treat at the Dairy Bar or shop at the Farm Store.

Best of all you can tour the property and
enjoy beautiful views of the grazing pastures for the herd of Brown Swiss cows. Sample the Creamery's organic, 100% grass-fed dairy products include, milk, yogurt, cheese and ice cream, then take it home with you! Self-guided tours are available during select hours. In the summer, events include weekly farmers market and open-air Dinner on the Deck Friday nights. There is live music on weekends as well.
