Stay in Overwater Bungalows in Fiji

Fiji is certainly one of the most famous island groups in the South Pacific, and the name alone brings up images of thatched-roof huts in a perfect warm climate. Many people wonder if there are any overwater bungalows on Fiji, like the more famous ones on Bora Bora, Moorea, and Tahiti, and the answer is yes, but perhaps bad news is that it’s also one of the most expensive overwater bungalow resorts in the South Pacific.

The other interesting thing about Fiji is that it’s much more remote if you are coming from North America (or closer if you are coming from Australia or New Zealand), so it tends to draw visitors from some areas more than others. On the other hand, you can actually fly nonstop from Los Angeles to Fiji in about 10 hours, which is faster than cheaper compared to any other overwater bungalows except those on Tahiti itself.

This was created for a honeymoon couple from Los Angeles. They wanted a great beach with overwater bungalows, however, they wanted to go someplace a bit different than all of their friends. So we sent them to Fiji, where there is nothing more romantic than the overwater bungalows at Likliku Lagoon Resort, named Best Overseas Resort 4th consecutive year in Australia’s Luxury Travel Magazine annual Gold List Awards. The Likuliku Lagoon Resort is the first and only resort in Fiji with overwater bungalows and the room tariff includes amazing gourmet meals.   While at Likuliku, they enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding.  We’ve paired this with Matangi Private Island for them, our favorite Fiji beach resort. They also got to experience great outdoor adventures like snorkeling, hiking to a waterfall, a local visit to a Fijian village and a tour to a Pearl Farm.  It is also features Horseshoe Bay listed in “1,000 Places to See Before You Die”.  They ended their Matangi stay with a dive at the Somo Somo Straits so they could enjoy the soft coral capital of the world.  This overwater bungalows vacation had two of the most romantic, private adults only resorts in Fiji with great beaches, food that’s to-die-for, and ample private moments for the two of them to be alone.

With a remote location near Fiji, the Likuliku Lagoon Resort is a 5-star hotel with 10 large overwater bungalows in addition to 35 beach villas and suites. Very popular with the honeymoon crowd, this resort is all about luxury, and the food is exceptional, but there are plenty of water sports and activities available for the active set.

The spa here is one of the finest in the South Pacific, located up on a hill overlooking the lagoon. Those interested in Polynesian culture will be very welcome here, as this luxury resort carries that theme throughout.
