Ski Mount Baker in Washington State

This ski area is the location for the world's greatest recorded snowfall in one season, 1,140 inches, recorded during the 1998–99 season. Mt. Baker also enjoys the unofficially highest average annual snowfall of any resort in the world, with 641 inches.

The Mount Baker Ski Area, Inc. is located in the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest and is operated under a permit granted by United States Forest Service.

Mt. Baker encourages families to ski and snowboard together. They offer lessons with the goal of getting families and friends to a level where they are able to ski together. Come learn with their friendly, trained staff of instructors. They are a member school of the Professional Snowsport Instructors of America - Northwest Division. They specifically hire instructors that are excited to help others get better at the sports that they are passionate about.

Their Kids Programs for ages 3-6 is targeted whether they are an all mountain rippers or trying skiing or snowboarding for the very first time, they’ve got a lesson package for them! Find the one that is perfect for your child & get them on the snow.

For ages 16 & up, from weekdays to weekends, they’ve got you covered. If you want ski lessons to sharpen skills or just learn how to ski or to snowboard, meet new people at the mountain or refine your skills they have a lesson tailored to your needs.

The base elevation is at 3,500 feet while the peak of the resort is at 5,089 feet. It is about 10 miles  south of the 49th parallel, the international border with Canada.

The ski area is known for numerous challenging in-bounds routes and for the many backcountry opportunities that surround it. The backcountry is accessible from several chairlifts, and access is permitted from the resort following the Mt. Baker Ski Area backcountry policy.

Started in 1985, this slalom snowboard race through the natural halfpipe has evolved into an international event. The Legendary Banked Slalom attracts many professionals from around the world as competitors and allows amateurs of all ages and abilities to compete on the same course over the same period with the professionals. The winner in each category receives a duct tape trophy and an embroidered Carhartt jacket.

Mt. Baker Ski Area is often featured in ski and snowboard films and still photography due to its picturesque setting, plentiful snowfall, and the availability of easily accessed advanced terrain. The Call of The Wild was filmed at Mt. Baker in 1934–35
